Delivering large-scale renewable energy projects requires more than generating power. Reliable SCADA, monitoring and control systems are essential to ensuring that solar PV plants and hybrid energy systems operate safely, efficiently and consistently throughout their lifecycle.

At SUNOTEC, we design and deliver integrated energy infrastructure across solar power generation, battery energy storage and grid infrastructure. With more than 680 projects delivered and over 15 GW of installed renewable energy capacity, our teams combine engineering expertise with international project execution.

As we expand our operations in the United Kingdom, we're looking for a Senior SCADA Engineer to support the delivery and operation of our large-scale Solar PV and Hybrid Systems projects..

Why this role matters:

SCADA systems are central to the performance, control and operational reliability of modern renewable energy infrastructure. From system architecture and equipment selection to commissioning and long-term monitoring, their successful implementation directly affects plant performance and operational continuity.

In this role, you'll take technical ownership of SCADA and monitoring solutions across our UK projects, ensuring systems are designed, integrated and commissioned to meet project requirements.

You'll work closely with engineering teams, project managers, procurement specialists, on-site engineers and external suppliers, contributing technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle and supporting reliable plant operations after commissioning.

Where you'll make an impact:

  • SCADA System Design & Standardization: Develop and implement standardized SCADA and monitoring solutions for large-scale Solar PV plants and Hybrid Systems, ensuring reliable system architecture, integration and operational performance;
  • Technical Specifications & System Architecture: Define requirements for SCADA equipment, Power Plant Controllers (PPC), PLCs, meteorological stations, weather sensors, fibre-optic network architectures, HMIs and related communication infrastructure;
  • Technical Procurement Support: Prepare cost estimates and technical specifications, supporting procurement teams in selecting appropriate SCADA, control and IT equipment that meets project requirements;
  • System Integration & Validation: Collaborate with SCADA suppliers and project stakeholders to validate system functionality, including plant controllers, communication networks, monitoring platforms and HMIs;
  • Installation & Commissioning: Coordinate with on-site engineers and suppliers during installation, testing and commissioning, ensuring SCADA hardware and software operate according to design specifications;
  • Technical Documentation & Handover: Ensure accurate project documentation, including commissioning records, as-built drawings, operator manuals and training materials, supporting effective system handover and operation;
  • Operational Monitoring & Performance: Support operational teams in monitoring plant performance and analysing production data, helping maintain reliable system operation throughout the commercial phase;
  • Troubleshooting & Technical Support: Investigate SCADA-related technical issues, contribute to root cause analysis, support warranty claims and assist with maintenance and troubleshooting activities when required.

What will help you succeed:

  • You have solid experience in SCADA and communication system design, including system architecture, industrial networks and components such as servers, data loggers, PLCs, routers and modems;
  • You've gained hands-on experience implementing, integrating and commissioning SCADA and communication systems, ideally across multiple projects;
  • You have practical experience in the Solar PV power plant industry, with an understanding of the technical and operational requirements of utility-scale renewable energy projects;
  • You're comfortable specifying and evaluating control, monitoring and communication equipment, ensuring compatibility with wider plant infrastructure;
  • Familiarity with IEC 61724 and ISO 27001 is an advantage, particularly in relation to PV performance monitoring and information security;
  • You can work confidently with technical documentation and engineering tools, including AutoCAD, EPLAN and Microsoft Office applications;
  • You're able to coordinate effectively with suppliers, contractors and multidisciplinary engineering teams, resolving technical issues and negotiating practical solutions;
  • You communicate confidently in English, both written and spoken, and can explain technical requirements clearly to internal and external stakeholders.

Why you'll enjoy working here:

At SUNOTEC, you'll contribute to large-scale renewable energy projects where SCADA and control systems have a direct impact on plant performance and reliability.

You'll collaborate with international engineering teams, technical specialists and project stakeholders, gaining exposure to complex Solar PV and Hybrid Systems projects from design through commissioning and operation.

You'll have the opportunity to take ownership of technical solutions, contribute to system standardisation and apply your expertise across a growing portfolio of renewable energy infrastructure projects.

In addition, you'll benefit from:

  • Full-time permanent employment contract;
  • Remuneration package reflecting your experience and responsibilities, including a car allowance and performance-related bonus;
  • Private medical insurance;
  • Company pension plan with employer matching following successful completion of probation;
  • Hybrid working opportunities;
  • Collaboration with experienced engineering professionals across international renewable energy projects.
