Consistent quality across large-scale construction projects depends on clear standards, reliable processes and experienced people who can identify risks before they affect project delivery.
SUNOTEC is an international system integrator of large-scale renewable energy infrastructure. Since 2012, we have delivered more than 680 solar power plants and battery energy storage (BESS) projects, with over 15 GW of installed capacity and 6 GWh of battery energy storage capacity across Europe and beyond.
As our project portfolio continues to grow, we’re looking for a QA/QC Manager – Renewable Energy Construction to strengthen how quality is managed across our international construction projects. The position is based in Sofia and involves travel to project sites both in Bulgaria and across Europe.
Why this role matters
As our international project portfolio grows, we continue to develop and improve our Quality Management System to ensure consistent quality standards across projects, countries and construction sites.
Reporting to the Head of QA/QC, you’ll contribute to its development and lead its implementation across multiple projects. You’ll manage a team of Quality Inspectors and work closely with engineering, procurement, project management and construction teams to ensure quality requirements are built into every stage of delivery.
This is a leadership role with a high level of autonomy. You’ll be expected to understand the business quickly, set priorities independently and take ownership of complex quality matters across several active projects.
Where you’ll make an impact:
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of SUNOTEC’s Quality Management System, establishing consistent processes, documentation and standards across projects and countries;
- Lead its implementation across assigned construction projects, ensuring quality requirements are understood and consistently applied by project teams, subcontractors and Quality Inspectors;
- Manage and support a team of Quality Inspectors, setting priorities, providing technical guidance and maintaining a consistent approach across different project sites;
- Oversee inspections, testing and internal audits, identifying risks and non-conformities early and ensuring effective corrective and preventive actions are implemented;
- Work with engineering, procurement, project management and construction teams to resolve quality issues and maintain compliance with technical, contractual and regulatory requirements;
- Coordinate quality activities with clients, regulatory authorities, certification bodies and third-party inspectors throughout the project lifecycle;
- Monitor quality performance, translate lessons learned into process improvements and provide management with clear reporting and practical recommendations.
You’ll thrive in this role if you:
- Hold at least a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management or another relevant technical discipline;
- Bring QA/QC experience from large-scale construction or infrastructure projects and understand how quality affects timelines, costs, contractual obligations and final acceptance;
- Have developed, implemented or improved Quality Management Systems, procedures, inspection plans and audit frameworks;
- Have practical experience with internal audits, non-conformity management and corrective and preventive actions, ideally within FIDIC-based projects;
- Have led Quality Inspectors or other site-based quality professionals and can provide direction without relying on close day-to-day supervision;
- Can quickly understand a new organisation, independently manage priorities and communicate firmly with technical teams, subcontractors and external stakeholders;
- Work confidently in English and are willing to travel internationally according to project needs.
- Previous experience in renewable energy or solar construction is an advantage, but it isn’t required. We’re primarily interested in experienced quality professionals with strong construction experience who can apply their expertise to large-scale renewable energy projects.
Why you’ll enjoy working here:
You’ll combine process development with direct involvement in live construction projects across Europe. The role gives you the autonomy to influence quality standards, improve how teams work and see the practical effect of your decisions on project delivery.
You’ll collaborate with professionals across quality, engineering, procurement, project management and construction, with visibility across the full lifecycle of complex international projects.
In addition, you’ll benefit from:
- A remuneration package reflecting the seniority, scope and international responsibilities of the role;
- Full-time employment contract;
- Additional health insurance, including dental care;
- Multisport card;
- 24 days of paid annual leave;
- Home office policy;
- Modern office facilities, team events and additional employee benefits.
If you’d like to take ownership of quality across major international construction projects and help shape the Quality Management System behind SUNOTEC’s future project delivery, send us your CV in English.
