Successful energy projects start long before construction — with the right location, secured land, a clear permitting pathway and strong coordination between multiple stakeholders.

At SUNOTEC, we develop and deliver large-scale renewable energy infrastructure across Europe. With more than 680 projects and over 15 GW of installed renewable energy capacity, our teams work across power generation, battery energy storage, grid infrastructure and lifecycle services.

As we expand our portfolio of solar PV, wind and battery energy storage (BESS) projects in Bulgaria, we’re looking for a Project Development Expert to help move new projects from early-stage site identification through development and building permit.

In this role, you’ll coordinate these development processes, working with landowners, authorities, engineers and external consultants to keep projects progressing towards construction readiness.

Where you’ll make an impact

• Identify and assess potential sites for renewable energy and other investment projects.
• Coordinate land acquisition and land rights, including property transactions, leases and easements.
• Drive spatial-planning and land-use procedures, including OUP/PUP, agricultural land conversion and related environmental processes.
• Manage administrative procedures with municipalities, state authorities and utility companies.
• Coordinate designers, surveyors, engineers and external consultants, keeping development activities aligned and on schedule.
• Support project and SPV due diligence, coordinating legal, technical and spatial-planning information.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and development data, tracking deadlines, progress and key risks.

You’ll thrive in this role if you:

• Have a university degree in Law, Urban Planning, Architecture, Civil Engineering or another relevant discipline.
• Bring experience in the development of investment, infrastructure or energy projects.
• Have experience with project or SPV due diligence.
• Have practical knowledge of Bulgarian regulations relevant to project development, including ZUT, ZOZZ, ZOOS and the Energy Act.
• Are comfortable working with state and municipal authorities and managing administrative procedures.
• Can manage several projects simultaneously and coordinate effectively with different stakeholders.
• Have a good working level of English and strong MS Office skills.
• Hold a Category B driving license and are comfortable travelling across Bulgaria.
