As our UK operations continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced Site Manager to oversee the on-site construction activities of our utility-scale solar PV projects across the United Kingdom.

Why this role matters

The successful delivery of large-scale solar projects depends on effective site management, strong coordination and a consistent focus on health and safety, quality and construction progress.

As a Site Manager, you will take responsibility for coordinating day-to-day construction activities on site, managing subcontractors and resources, and ensuring that works are completed safely, efficiently and in line with project specifications and schedules.

Working closely with the Project Manager, engineers, subcontractors and other stakeholders, you will play a key role in maintaining construction standards, resolving on-site challenges and ensuring the successful completion and handover of our solar projects.

This is an opportunity to contribute directly to the development of renewable energy infrastructure while working on large-scale projects across the UK.

Where you'll make an impact:

  • Lead, supervise and coordinate day-to-day on-site construction activities for utility-scale solar PV projects across the UK;
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental (HSE) requirements, company policies, site procedures and applicable UK legislation, including CDM Regulations;
  • Manage and coordinate site personnel, subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring that work is performed in accordance with project specifications, schedules and performance targets;
  • Monitor construction progress and coordinate site activities to support the achievement of project milestones and delivery deadlines;
  • Implement and oversee quality assurance and quality control procedures, conducting regular inspections to ensure that completed works meet the required standards;
  • Coordinate site logistics, including material deliveries, storage, equipment deployment and the availability of resources required for construction activities;
  • Work closely with the Project Manager, engineering teams and other stakeholders to address technical and operational challenges and maintain project progress;
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date site documentation, including daily reports, progress records, HSE documentation, inspection records and material inventories;
  • Conduct regular site meetings to communicate work plans, coordinate activities, address issues and ensure alignment across site teams and subcontractors;
  • Identify potential construction risks, delays and operational challenges, implementing appropriate corrective actions and mitigation measures;
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure that work is carried out in accordance with contractual requirements, safety standards and quality expectations;
  • Support the coordination of testing, commissioning and project handover activities, ensuring that site works are completed satisfactorily and relevant documentation is in place;
  • Promote a strong culture of safety, accountability, quality and continuous improvement across the construction site.

What will help you succeed:

  • At least 5 years of experience in site management within large-scale construction projects, including a minimum of 2 years in renewable energy or the solar sector;
  • Proven experience managing construction sites for utility-scale or ground-mounted solar PV installations in the UK;
  • Strong knowledge of UK construction regulations and health and safety legislation, including the CDM Regulations;
  • Valid SMSTS or SSSTS certification, as applicable to the role;
  • A good understanding of solar PV system components, installation methods, construction sequencing and quality standards;
  • Relevant qualification in construction management, engineering or a related field, such as HNC/HND or a university degree, or equivalent practical experience;
  • Valid First Aid certification and other relevant site-based qualifications;
  • Temporary Works Supervisor certification would be an advantage;
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively to project sites across the United Kingdom.

Skills and competencies:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to coordinate, motivate and guide site teams and subcontractors;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with project teams, contractors, suppliers and other stakeholders;
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to resolving on-site issues;
  • High attention to detail, particularly regarding health and safety, construction quality and compliance;
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize competing demands and perform effectively under pressure;
  • Good working knowledge of site management tools, reporting software and Microsoft Office applications;
  • A strong commitment to safe working practices, quality standards and environmental protection.
