Expanding our team in Sofia, we are seeking a Legal Counsel to join our Legal Team and provide legal support to the business in Bulgaria and across international markets.  

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal advice to the business, primarily in relation to EPC (PV and BESS) and O&M activities;
  • Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of complex contracts, including EPC contacts for solar PV and battery energy storage projects based on FIDIC forms оf contacts, such as EPC and O&M contracts as well as procurement agreements, subcontractor and grid connection agreements;
  • Provide legal support and advice on employment and labor law matters, including employment relationships, disciplinary procedures, terminations, workplace policies, and labor accidents and related disputes and claims;
  • Support the different business groups on general legal matters, including Procurement, Construction, Engineering, HR, Marketing, Banking Relations & Finance, Sustainability and Health & Safety etc;
  • Support international and cross-border projects by conducting legal and regulatory research on new market entries and coordinating with external counsel in foreign jurisdictions on licensing, permitting, corporate and regulatory compliance matters;
  • Monitor changes in relevant legislation, particularly in the renewable energy sector and assess their potential impact on the company’s operations across various jurisdictions;
  • Manage pre-litigation risks, and if litigation arises, develop litigation strategies and coordinate with external legal counsel to resolve disputes;
  • Assist with corporate governance, compliance and other strategic legal initiatives as required.

 

Requirements:

  • Law degree from an accredited university. Additional legal qualifications or education from a foreign university will be considered an advantage;
  • Professional experience in construction, infrastructure and/or renewable energy projects, preferably with exposure to both Bulgarian and international markets;
  • Experience advising on construction and engineering contracts, ideally including FIDIC standard forms. Knowledge of NEC and JCT would be considered an advantage;
  • Excellent command of English both written and spoken. Additional languages skills, especially in the markets that we operate will be considered an advantage;
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
