Europe's energy transition is changing not only how we generate energy, but how we manage and create value from it.

As renewable energy projects become increasingly complex, understanding their financial performance is essential to making informed decisions, managing risks and creating long-term value.

At SUNOTEC, we believe that successful renewable energy projects require more than strong technical execution. They require accurate financial insight, disciplined asset management and a clear understanding of how projects perform throughout their lifecycle.

As an international system integrator of large-scale renewable energy infrastructure, SUNOTEC has delivered more than 680 projects with over 15 GW of installed renewable energy capacity and 6 GWh of battery energy storage projects across Europe and beyond. Our teams work across power generation, battery energy storage, grid infrastructure and lifecycle services, delivering the integrated energy systems that support Europe's green energy transition

As our Independent Power Producer (IPP) portfolio continues to grow, we are expanding our team in Sofia, Bulgaria and are looking for an FP&A Analyst to support the financial analysis, reporting and performance management of our renewable energy assets.

Why this role matters

Once a renewable energy asset is operational, understanding its financial and operational performance becomes critical to ensuring its long-term success.

In this role, you'll sit at the intersection of finance, accounting, asset management and operations, turning complex financial and operational data into clear insights that support decision-making. You'll help identify performance deviations, investigate their financial impact and provide high-quality analysis to internal and external stakeholders, including investors, shareholders and banks.

Your work will contribute directly to how SUNOTEC monitors, manages and creates value from its growing portfolio of renewable energy assets.

What you'll own:

  • Analyse financial and accounting data related to SUNOTEC's renewable energy assets and identify key trends, risks and opportunities;
  • Review information received from key stakeholders, including traders, operators, accountants and banks, and identify inconsistencies or discrepancies;
  • Investigate performance deviations, understand their underlying drivers and assess their potential financial impact;
  • Prepare accurate and insightful monthly and ad-hoc asset management and performance reports;
  • Support financial and performance reporting to investors, shareholders, banks and other external stakeholders;
  • Translate complex analysis and market insights into clear and effective management presentations;
  • Analyse, structure and consolidate data from multiple sources to improve the quality and efficiency of reporting;
  • Support the analysis of asset acquisitions and disposals, including assessing the financial impact of operational or performance-related issues;
  • Assist the Asset Management team in monitoring the financial and operational performance of renewable energy assets;
  • Contribute to continuous improvements in reporting processes, data quality and analytical tools;
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure financial information is accurate, consistent and relevant for decision-making.

What will help you succeed:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or another relevant discipline;
  • Around 2–3 years of experience in financial analysis, FP&A, reporting or a similar analytical role;
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret and connect financial, accounting and operational data;
  • Proven ability to identify inconsistencies, investigate data deviations and understand the underlying reasons behind financial performance;
  • Experience in financial due diligence, transaction services, audit or consulting, particularly within a Big Four environment, would be a strong advantage;
  • Advanced Excel skills, including working with formulas, analysing large datasets and structuring complex information;
  • Good PowerPoint skills and the ability to turn analysis into clear, professional presentations;
  • Experience with Power BI or other data visualisation and business intelligence tools would be an advantage;
  • Strong attention to detail and a structured approach to analysing complex information;
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial and analytical findings clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders;
  • Ability to work collaboratively across finance, asset management, operations and other functions;
  • A proactive, curious and solutions-oriented mindset, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and evolving environment;
  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken;
  • Genuine interest in renewable energy, infrastructure and the financial performance of long-term energy assets.
