Connecting large-scale renewable energy assets to the grid requires more than meeting technical requirements. It means bringing together electrical infrastructure, control systems, certification and grid compliance so that solar PV and battery storage projects can operate safely and reliably.

As our project portfolio in Germany continues to grow, we’re looking for a Grid Connection and SCADA Engineer to join our Grid Connection and SCADA team.

Why this role matters:

Grid connection is a defining stage in bringing a renewable energy project into operation. In this role, you’ll support the planning, coordination and execution of medium- and high-voltage grid connections for utility-scale Solar PV, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and hybrid installations.

You’ll work across grid connection engineering and SCADA, collaborating with internal EPC, Electrical Engineering and Project Development teams, as well as grid operators, certification bodies and equipment vendors. Your work will help ensure that grid requirements are incorporated into project design from an early stage and that projects progress successfully through application, certification, energisation and compliance testing.

Where you’ll make an impact:

• Support grid connection planning by assessing grid capacity, Point of Common Coupling (PCC) options and interconnection feasibility for utility-scale Solar PV and BESS projects;
• Review grid connection requests (Netzanfragen), technical documentation and system operator requirements to identify project-specific grid connection requirements;
• Prepare and coordinate technical application packages for DSOs and TSOs, including NAB documentation, E.8 and E.9 forms, single-line diagrams and protection concepts;
• Support grid compliance certification (Anlagenzertifikat), working with external certifiers and equipment vendors across inverters, transformers and control systems;
• Work closely with EPC, Electrical Engineering and Project Development teams to integrate grid and SCADA requirements into project design and execution;
• Act as an operational technical contact for grid operators, technical experts and certification bodies throughout the grid application and connection process;
• Support grid energisation (Inbetriebnahme), compliance testing and commissioning activities alongside senior engineers;
• Track grid connection milestones, deadlines and changes in relevant requirements, including VDE-AR-N 4110/4120/4130, EEG and applicable technical standards.
• Coordinate with equipment vendors and service providers, support technical clarifications, and help resolve day-to-day technical issues related to SCADA and grid compliance.

You’ll thrive in this role if you:

• Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline;
• Bring at least 2 years of relevant professional experience in grid connection, electrical engineering, renewable energy or a related field;
• Have a solid understanding of MV and HV components, including switchgear, cables and transformers, as well as electrical protection concepts;
• Understand SCADA architecture and components such as data loggers, network switches and Power Plant Controllers (PPC);
• Are familiar with German grid connection requirements, including the VDE-AR-N 41xx series, TABs and other applicable standards;
• Have practical experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office;
• Can work confidently in both German and English at a minimum B2 level, as the role involves regular coordination with internal and external stakeholders;
• Hold a valid driving licence and are comfortable travelling up to approximately 30% as required by projects.

Experience with PowerFactory DIgSILENT or a switching permit for MV switchgear would be an advantage.
