Job Title:  Corporate Compliance Manager

At SUNOTEC, we are shaping the future of renewable energy through the design, construction and delivery of large-scale solar PV, battery energy storage and grid infrastructure projects.

Since 2012, we have delivered more than 680 projects, with over 15 GW of installed solar capacity and 6 GWh of battery energy storage across more than 24 countries. With a team of over 2,000 professionals representing more than 34 nationalities, we combine international expertise with hands-on project execution.

As our international operations continue to expand, we are looking for an experienced Corporate Compliance Manager to join our headquarters in Sofia, Bulgaria, and establish and develop our corporate compliance function across the SUNOTEC Group.

This is a senior role offering significant ownership and the opportunity to shape how compliance is managed across our business. You will develop practical policies, processes and controls, working closely with teams across different functions and markets. As the function evolves, you will also have the opportunity to build and lead a small compliance team.

Where you'll make an impact:

  • Develop, implement and maintain the Group's corporate compliance framework, including policies and procedures covering business ethics, anti-bribery and anti-corruption, conflicts of interest, whistleblowing and third-party compliance;
  • Identify, assess and manage compliance risks across the Group's international operations, establishing appropriate internal controls and mitigation measures;
  • Lead the implementation of a regulatory monitoring process, ensuring relevant legislative developments are identified, assessed and communicated across the Group;
  • Work closely with Legal and other business functions to ensure compliance requirements are understood and consistently applied across the organization;
  • Establish and implement a structured Know Your Customer (KYC) and third-party due diligence process, including counterparty screening and sanctions checks;
  • Monitor compliance with applicable corporate and regulatory requirements, coordinate internal reviews and follow up on corrective actions;
  • Oversee whistleblowing processes and coordinate the handling of potential compliance breaches and internal investigations in cooperation with relevant stakeholders;
  • Support interactions with regulatory authorities, inspections and relevant corporate registrations and regulatory filings;
  • Contribute to the implementation and effective use of digital and AI-supported legal and compliance tools to improve monitoring, documentation and reporting;
  • Provide compliance guidance and training to employees and management, and report on key risks, findings and improvement initiatives.

What will help you succeed:

  • University degree in Law, Business Administration, Economics or another relevant field;
  • 7+ years of relevant professional experience in corporate compliance, regulatory affairs or a closely related corporate legal function;
  • Proven experience developing and implementing corporate compliance policies, procedures and internal control mechanisms;
  • Strong knowledge of European regulatory requirements, particularly in corporate compliance, anti-bribery and anti-corruption, sanctions and third-party due diligence;
  • Demonstrated experience working in an international corporate environment, with exposure to compliance requirements across multiple jurisdictions;
  • Practical experience in compliance risk assessment, regulatory monitoring and KYC or third-party due diligence processes;
  • Ability to independently structure, implement and manage compliance processes, translating regulatory requirements into practical business solutions;
  • Strong analytical, organizational and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to advise and work with senior management;
  • Excellent written and spoken English.

It would be an advantage if you also bring:

  • Experience in construction, renewable energy, manufacturing or another industrial sector;
  • Previous involvement in establishing or developing a corporate compliance function;
  • Experience with compliance management platforms, regulatory monitoring tools or process automation;
  • Experience coordinating or managing a small team.

Why you'll enjoy working here:

  • Make a real impact by building and shaping the corporate compliance function of a growing international renewable energy company, with the freedom to bring your ideas to life;
  • Take ownership of your work in a senior role that offers autonomy, close collaboration with management and the opportunity to influence key business decisions;
  • Grow with the role, with the opportunity to build and lead your own compliance team as the function develops;
  • Think and work internationally, collaborating with colleagues across different countries, functions and projects;
  • Be rewarded for your contribution with a competitive salary package and an annual performance-based bonus;
  • Take care of your health and well-being with supplementary Allianz health insurance, including dental coverage, a MultiSport card and sports activities at the office;
  • Enjoy flexibility in your working week with the option to work from home one day per week after successfully completing your probation period;
  • Keep learning and developing through our internal learning platform, structured onboarding, on-the-job training and opportunities for professional growth.

If you're ready to take ownership of building a corporate compliance function and contribute to the growth of an international renewable energy company, we'd like to hear from you!
