Bringing a large-scale renewable energy project online depends on the infrastructure that connects it to the grid. High-voltage substations, protection and control systems, SCADA and grid interfaces all need to work together, from early design through construction and commissioning.

As our project portfolio in Romania continues to grow, we’re looking for an HV Grid Connection Manager to lead the high-voltage and grid connection scope of our projects across the country.

Why this role matters:

As HV Grid Connection Manager, you’ll take ownership of the high-voltage and grid connection scope for SUNOTEC Romania, with a particular focus on substations at 110 kV and above.

Your involvement will span the full project lifecycle, from tendering and technical design through execution, testing and commissioning. You’ll ensure that HV infrastructure and grid interfaces meet Romanian and EU standards, Transelectrica and DSO requirements, as well as SUNOTEC Group procedures.

Acting as the technical and commercial interface for HV-related matters, you’ll work directly with clients, grid operators, regulatory authorities, subcontractors and internal project teams to move complex renewable energy projects towards successful grid connection.

Where you’ll make an impact:

• Lead the HV and grid connection scope across SUNOTEC’s Romanian projects, from tendering and early technical definition through construction and commissioning;
• Review and validate substation and grid interface designs across primary and secondary systems, control, protection and SCADA, ensuring technical requirements are addressed before execution;
• Manage technical coordination with Transelectrica, DSOs and ANRE, supporting the approvals, ATRs and permits required to progress projects through the Romanian grid connection process;
• Own the technical input for HV-related offers, BoQs and cost estimates, supporting Tendering and Sales teams with accurate specifications, documentation and technical clarifications;
• Oversee subcontractors across design, procurement, installation and commissioning, ensuring HV works meet project specifications, quality requirements and agreed milestones;
• Lead the technical coordination of testing and FAT/SAT activities, including the integration of SCADA, protection and metering systems;
• Provide engineering oversight during construction through technical site visits, issue resolution and direct support to project teams;
• Track HV project progress, technical and delivery risks and budget performance, while developing internal procedures, checklists and standard specifications that strengthen the way SUNOTEC delivers HV and grid integration works in Romania.

You’ll thrive in this role if you:

• Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Power Engineering;
• Bring at least 10 years of experience in HV/MV substation design, execution or EPC management, ideally with substantial exposure to 110 kV and above infrastructure;
• Have strong technical knowledge of primary systems and relay protection and understand how they interact across HV substation and grid connection design;
• Are familiar with communication protocols including IEC 61850 and IEC 104 and their application within protection, control and SCADA systems;
• Understand Transelectrica and DSO standards, ANRE procedures and the Romanian grid connection process, allowing you to manage technical approvals and regulatory requirements effectively;
• Have experience preparing, reviewing and evaluating technical and commercial offers for HV systems, including BoQs and cost estimates;
• Can lead technical coordination across clients, grid operators, subcontractors and internal project teams, turning complex technical requirements into clear decisions and actions;
• Work confidently in both Romanian and English, as you’ll represent SUNOTEC with local authorities and partners while collaborating with colleagues across the Group;
• Are comfortable travelling regularly to project sites across Romania.

An ANRE Authorization would be an advantage.
